Liverpool has been hit with a rough scare. Club ace Mohamed Salah might have taken a knock during his latest outing for Egypt during the AFCON and had to be taken off the field. Egypt is yet to issue an update on the situation, with Liverpool fans hoping that the player has not sustained any major injury. However, it seems like Jurgen Klopp is not so sure about the scenario. The Reds boss addressed Salah’s injury while talking to the media, claiming the player could have taken a rough blow.
Salah has been a crucial foundation for Liverpool since he arrived at the club. The player has become one of the most valuable players for the Reds and his absence will become a big factor in determining Liverpool’s success this season. While Jurgen Klopp’s men are currently at the top of the Premier League standings, a string of poor fixtures could see the team knocked off the pedestal.

The Reds could be in a boatload of trouble. Despite being on the top of the standings, things could take a turn for the worst following a potential injury to Mohamed Salah. While fans hope that the player comes out unscathed, Jurgen Klopp is surely counting his options.
Klopp on Salah:
“We don’t know anything. I spoke with him last night. He felt it. We all know how rarely Mo goes off so it’s definitely something. It depends what the diagnosis is.”

The Liverpool boss commented on Salah’s situation during his latest press conference. Klopp claimed that he had a chat with the player and it could be something serious considering the winger had to be taken off the field. “We don’t know anything. I spoke with him last night. He felt it. We all know how rarely Mo goes off so it’s something. It depends what the diagnosis is.”
The concern surrounding Salah comes not too long after Trent Alexander-Arnold picked up an injury earlier this month against Arsenal in the FA cup. Further, Dominik Szoboszlai, Andrew Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas, Joël Matip and Thiago have also been on the sidelines.
Liverpool is currently at the top of the Premier League standings with 45 points from 19 games. However, there is no chance for complacency as defending champions Manchester City are closing in on the table-toppers with just two points separating the first and second-placed sides.
Liverpool set to take on high-flying Chelsea on their Premier League return
The Reds will take on Norwich in their upcoming encounter in the FA Cup on the 28th of January. Jurgen Klopp’s men are the favorites to bag the win, and should have any trouble cruising past a comparatively weaker opposition. However, the side will be put to the test against Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea on their return to the Premier League.

Chelsea seems to have picked up the steam after a slow start to the season. The Blues are currently on a three-game winning streak and will look to go four in four as they visit Anfield on the first of February. Mohamed Salah’s absence could be a big blow for the side, with the Egyptian currently standing as the joint-top scorer in the league alongside Erling Haaland with fourteen goals to his name. Klopp will expect his players to give their all in what is a big clash for the team.
