Last night, Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr were back in action. It was smooth sailing for the CR7 and his team as they thrashed Al Hazm 1-5 at King Abdullah Sports City. Ronaldo even scored his 850th career goal, but just minutes before his goal, the referee made a massive blunder by denying an Al Nassr goal.

Luis Castro’s side was, nevertheless, able to clinch the crucial three points. The win gives them a total of nine points and keeps them in sixth place in the Roshn Saudi League.

The digits on the scoreboard could have been 6 instead of 5 for Al Nassr at the end of 90 minutes. This comes after the referee disallowed Sadio Mane’s first goal of the match in the 38th minute. Although he was finally able to bag a goal in the 78th minute, he missed out on a potential brace.

The premise was presented by arbitration analyst Fahd Al-Mirdasi, who claimed Mane’s disallowed goal was a wrong call. He said, “The cancellation of Sadio Mane’s goal was an incorrect decision by the referee.” Certainly, both Al Nassr and Mane won’t be impressed after hearing this. Meanwhile, the referee would also be taking notes.

Perhaps, a better review was needed from the referee. First-half goals from Ghareeb and Al Khaibari gave Al Nassr a perfect start. Al Hazm tried to inspire a comeback after just two minutes at the start of the second half. However, their hopes were dashed when Otavio added a third. After providing two assists, Ronaldo finally broke the deadlock, scoring in the 68th minute.

Ten minutes later, Mane didn’t leave the field empty-handed, as he added the fifth for his side. Indeed, it was quite an emphatic win. While Al Nassr did manage to put in five, it was Ronaldo who managed to steal the show last night. In fact, last night’s goal was his career’s 850th.

850 career goals for Cristiano Ronaldo!

Age, club, or otherwise, factors rarely deter Ronaldo from pursuing glory. Yesterday, the Portuguese superstar put his name in the history books by scoring his 850th goal.  His achievement also sent the majority of soccer fans into disbelief. Notably, he has also scored six goals in just four Saudi Pro League matches this season.

It seems the 38-year-old is determined to lead Al Nassr’s resurgence given that the team suffered defeats in its initial two games of the campaign. He would be aiming to propel them up the league standings. The skipper would be looking to keep his scoring form intact. Let’s see how this development unfolds.
