There is something about Zlatan Ibrahimovic…and Cristiano Ronaldo. Mention Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic seems to become a triggered man. To put it mildly, we all know that he is not the biggest Cristiano Ronaldo fan.

The “most complete player that ever exists” is back with a fresh debate, and this time, he is talking about his 40-meter screamer versus CR7’s stunning bicycle kick against Juventus.

During his Real Madrid days, Ronaldo scored a stunning bicycle kick goal against Juventus during the quarter-finals of the 2018 Champions League. This goal is still considered the best goal of Ronaldo’s career by most soccer fans and pundits alike. It is also considered as the best goal in the history of the competition by many people.

At that time, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was stopped by some paparazzi and was asked if CR7’s goal was the best he saw. Interestingly, he admitted to it and said yes.

Fast forwarding to today, in a recent interview, British broadcaster Piers Morgan asked him the same question. Well, turns out that the answer Ibrahimovic gave five years ago was nothing but sarcasm.

To quote his words after Morgan asked his thoughts on CR7’s goal, Ibra said, “I was being sarcastic.”

When asked to elaborate, the veteran said, “Not many understood. But I’m not there to explain that. Because you cannot read my mind.” Morgan then asked if his 40-meter bicycle goal against England was better, Ibra responded: “100%. I said in an interview later, you should try it from 40 meters is a big difference. Even if his was beautiful, this was from 40 meters.” Typical Zlatan!

It seems the former 6’5 striker is more convinced with his goal than Ronaldo’s brilliant efforts. Once again, the Swedish legend managed to overshadow the Portuguese star. Earlier, he even subtly dissed Cris for making a move to the Middle East.

Once again, during his appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Ibrahimovic delved into the trend of players opting to depart European soccer for lucrative contracts in Saudi Arabia. The Swedish striker also mentioned that although he had received offers from both China and Saudi Arabia, his preference was to conclude his career on the grand stage.

The former AC Milan striker emphasized that players of a certain caliber should ideally conclude their careers at the pinnacle of the sport. “You cannot go in a lower stage and finish your career in a different way. But some players needed the situations where they can earn a lot of money because they didn’t earn enough,” he said.
