In what can only be described as a Mexican soap opera, the saga surrounding Lionel Messi‘s Inter Miami continues. The MLS side has already made some significant waves in the summer transfer window, securing the services of Lionel Messi and bringing in players with whom he has previously had great chemistry. The club has already secured Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba and is on the lookout to bring in Luis Suarez.
His manager has branded Suarez, who currently plays for Gremio, a ‘problem’. He is reportedly reluctant to let him leave. Despite this, Inter Miami remains determined to overcome any obstacles in their pursuit of the Uruguayan striker. Amid all this, Inter Miami has taken a big step to remove any hindrance from making further signings.

The club is fully committed to turning the tide and improving its position in the MLS standings. To that end, Inter Miami recently made a significant move to bolster their squad. The club has acquired an additional international player slot, allowing them to sign another foreign star.
In the MLS, 224 international roster slots are divided among the 28 clubs. Each team is allocated 8 international roster slots, which can be traded between clubs. Inter Miami has taken advantage of this system by striking a deal with the San Jose Earthquakes. David Beckham’s side has purchased a slot from them for a staggering $150,000.

This acquisition gives Inter Miami the flexibility to further strengthen their squad and bring in more top-tier talent. It is highly speculated, this is a move to finally reunite Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi. Adding someone of Suarez’s caliber would undoubtedly bolster Inter Miami’s attacking prowess. However, all this seems to be a problem for his current club, Gremio.
“(Luis) Suarez is a problem,” says Gremio’s coach
Luis Suarez’s coach at Gremio, Renato Gaucho, has openly expressed his concerns about the striker’s future. Gaucho emphasized, “Suarez is now a problem that is in the president’s hands. They are exchanging ideas. As a coach, I have to focus on leading the team”.

To illustrate the complexity of the situation, Gaucho drew an intriguing analogy likening it to a captivating soap opera. He said, “It seems like a Mexican soap opera that should end now. Until August 2 I’m quiet, then we’ll see how we continue”. The coach further revealed his desire for Suarez to stay, but acknowledged that he has no influence over such matters.
He mentioned, “For now, he (Luis Suarez) has been talking to the board and the president”. It remains to be seen how the drama will unfold. But one thing is for certain – Inter Miami is leaving no stone unturned in its quest for success.
