After a goalless draw against Nashville and a blank for Lionel Messi, Inter Miami just faced LAFC. This fixture will always be a special one because the Herons started off their MLS journey in 2020 against the same opposition. David Beckham‘s side managed to comfortably win the game 1-3. Multiple contributions by the Argentine soccer legend ensured that the Herons won the game comfortably.
Several big names had turned up to witness the match. That list included names like Leonardo DiCaprio, Selena Gomez, LeBron James, and many more.

Even though LAFC had more shots on goal, the Herons proved to be the more clinical side. The World Cup winner made sure that his team took their chances whenever they came by. Inter Miami took the lead quite early after Facundo Farias opened his team’s account in the 14th minute. After that, there was no goal for a long time. At halftime, Messi’s side walked into the tunnel holding onto a narrow lead.
Jordi Alba scored his team’s second goal a few minutes after the second half began. The scorer-assist combination was perfect, reminding the fanbase of the old Barcelona days as Lionel Messi provided him the assist. In the 83rd minute, Leonardo Campana scored a goal which pretty much sealed the Herons’ victory. LAFC’s Ryan Hollingshead scored a late goal in the 90th minute. However, it just seemed too late to cause any problems.
Here’s how the fans reacted.
A fan acknowledged the presence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. It didn’t really matter to Lionel Messi as he managed to continue Inter Miami’s winning streak.
Messi owns Hollywood celebrities and Prince Harry too. What a game. Overall good performance. Still unbeaten

It was quite a shock and an embarrassing defeat for LAFC as this was a home game for them.

In the earlier games, Messi used to score the winners. Now he’s helping his teammates do the same while assisting their goals!

An interesting comment made by a fan. In a few months, Tata Martino’s side could actually establish themselves as the ‘Prime Barcelona’ of the MLS.

All in all, it was a phenomenal performance by Inter Miami. Veteran players like Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets managed to cut open LAFC’s midfielder and defense. With a mix of accurate pinpoint passing and clinical finishing on the counter-attack, the Herons embarrassed Los Angeles FC at home in front of their regular fanbase and a high-profile audience too.

Lionel Messi’s impact on Inter Miami has been nothing short of glorious. The Argentine soccer legend joined the Herons when they were going through a tough patch and a forgettable winless streak. Guess what, since the World Cup winner’s arrival they’ve been on an unbeatable run of ten games. Apart from his direct impact on the pitch, many other aspects of the team have improved too.
Moreover, players like Benjamin Cremaschi, Josef Martinez, Robert Taylor, and many more have all started playing better soccer. Kamal Miller has put in a few stellar performances in defense, especially in the game against Nashville. David Beckham’s club also won its first piece of silverware.
