Lionel Messi once again helped his team do the unthinkable. Inter Miami trailed by two goals but dragged the game down to the penalties thanks to Messi’s assist. With the game in a clutch situation, Miami delivered winning the game 4-5 on penalties to make their way into the finals of the US Open Cup.
Cincinnati, who were in control for the majority of the game, will surely be reeling by the narrow loss. Cincinnati’s head coach Pat Noonan following the game touched down on the loss. He credited La Pulga for helping his team bag the victory,

Pat Noonan credits Lionel Messi for Miami’s massive win
Cincinnati proved to be Inter Miami’s biggest challenge this season following the arrival of Lionel Messi. The team gave their all against the David Beckham-owned franchise, taking thegame down to the wire. However, despite their valiant efforts, it was Lionel Messi and Inter Miami who persevered and managed to make it into the finals.
During the post-match press conference, Cincinnati head coach Pat Noonan touched down on the game and praised his side for the fight. However, he felt Messi was right on his game as he produced magical moments to help his side find the win.

Both the teams went back and forth despite Cincinnati holding the early two-goal advantage. However, Miami’s Argentine talisman was on the top of his game as he found two assists to help Miami take the game to the extra time.
Inter Miami edge past Cincinnati in a thriller
The semi-final game between Inter Miami and Cincinnati delivered on all accounts. Both the teams were not willing to give up till the dying moments of the game. However, it was Leo Messi and his side that held their nerves to clinch their place in the finals.

During one point of the game, Cincinnati had complete control over the game as they dominated Inter Miami’s defense. However, Lionel Messi stepped it up a notch in the second half providing two perfect assists to Leo Campana. The Ecuadorian headed them in with pinpoint accuracy to level the scores.
While Miami took the lead in the extra time, Cincinnati found the leveler to take the game to penalties. However, Miami stepped up to the challenge and emerged victorious to find their 8th win in a row.
