The ongoing Women’s World Cup has seen the rise of various teams which have put on a stunning performance. One of the biggest success stories in the tournament has been the Jamaican Women’s side. With the side doing their all to stand tall across the best sides in the world, USWNT veteran Megan Rapinoe has appreciated their efforts given their back story.

After being cut off from the national funding, the Jamaican side has given their best thanks to help from Bob Marley’s daughter, Cedella. The legendary artist’s daughter has been at the forefront of the attempt to give Jamaica’s women an equal chance.

While fans did not expect a lot from Jamaica in the World Cup considering their group, the team has surprised the fans. In a group with Brazil, Panama, and France, the Jamaican side has managed four points in two games, with a win and a draw to their name.

While the team has done great on their pitch, Cedella has played a big role in their journey. With the team on the verge of being cut off from the funding program, Cedella took it upon herself to give the team a fair chance. Cedella in recent years has partnered with multiple players and organizations to help the Jamaican efforts.

USWNT star Megan Rapinoe recently liked a social media post that described the journey for the team, including Cedella’s efforts. Both the USA and Jamaica are currently in the top two spots in their respective groups and will look to win their last game to secure a place in the knockouts.

With the World Cup group stages coming to an end, every game has become important for the teams. USWNT who are currently on the top of the table will have to give their all in their final game if they wish to make it further.

Despite being at the top of their group, a loss against Portugal could see the USWNT take an early exit from the tournament.

While the team started off well with a win over Vietnam, their draw against the Netherlands has hurt their chances. Megan Rapinoe alongside the rest will have to do their best against Portugal to at least ensure a draw in their final fixture. With the tournament heating up, it will be interesting to see which teams make it to the knockouts.
