Laulauga Tausaga-Collins won the discus throw event at the World Athletics Championships. The USWNT soccer player, going through tough times recently, acknowledged the achievement of Laulauga. She liked an Instagram post of Togethxr, a company run by her partner, Sue Bird. It became a historic achievement for Tausaga-Collins, becoming the first US woman to win the discus title.?

Although the path forward was not straightforward, she held her own in the competition. She trailed in the final round after two foul throw attempts and only managed 52.28. The rest after that, as they say, is history!

With her final throw attempt, Laulauga managed a 69.49-meter throw, giving her the advantage in the final round. She sling-shotted herself to the top from 12th and created history. After the victory, she spoke to the media in excitement.?In an interview, she stated,?“I don’t know if I have a fairy godmother or something, or my ancestors had some say in it, but I was able to do something tonight that I didn’t think was possible yet.”

She continued,?“I was confident if I was on my A game I could sneak through into a medal place and not be 12th like I was in the last two world championships.”?It became a day to remember, and Megan Rapinoe quickly acknowledged her character and performance.?
