Rodrygo was born to two Brazilians, Eric Goes and Denise Goes, in 2001. Eric Goes hails from a town called Osasco, in the state of São Paulo. The reason why Rodrygo took up soccer is none other than his father. The 39-year-old was a former player who played in lower tiers of Brazilian soccer. He represented clubs like Mirassol-SP and Ceará SC, which play in the Brazilian second-division league, and also Criciúma EC, which was recently promoted to Brasileiro Serie A. In contrast to his son, Eric Goes was a defender and played at the level of Serie B. However, not much is known about his mother, Denise, but the 38-year-old used to take care of Rodrygo when he was playing at Santos, while Eric used to travel, playing for senior teams.

The 23-year-old’s father was also the man who encouraged and led Rodrygo to become a soccer player. According to reports, the father reportedly said, “He’s gonna be a footballer,” even before Rodrygo was born. And now the son has taken over the baton from his father. Rodrygo has one younger sister, Ana Julya, who was born in 2018. He also joins her parents to watch her brother’s games with her parents and cheers for Madrid. Nevertheless, Rodrygo also has juniors of his own.
