However, a part of her success is credited to the support from her husband, Servando Carrasco. The couple tied the knot together in 2014 and interestingly Carrasco was a former MLS player. Who is Servando Carrasco?

Servando Carrasco is a former US soccer player. Born in San Diego, but he spent his early years in Mexico. This contributed to him getting dual citizenship in both countries. Carrasco started playing in the MLS in 2011, debuting with the Seattle Sounders. Interestingly, even before making his name in the soccer world, the defensive midfielder had known Alex Morgan. The couple were college sweethearts, and they even supported each other during their amateur careers.

Alex Morgan had once revealed on her social media that she was the one who approached Carrasco. On her husband’s birthday, she captioned, “Decided to shoot my shot on this day 16 years ago. Pretty damn happy with how it turned out every day after that. Happy birthday to my one and only!”

The couple tied the knot in California in front of 180 guests. Their wedding had a fusion of Mexican & American cuisine courtesy of Carrasco’s background. 2 years later, in 2020, the couple welcomed daughter Charlie Elena Carrasco into the world. For 2-time World Cup winner Alex Morgan, she was the ‘best World Cup gift‘ ever. Moreover, the initial childbirth phase went smoothly, as she credited Carrasco & family for their immense support.

The ex-MLS star believes that discussing soccer is unproductive in their marriage. He told MLSSoccer, “I’m not going to go out of my way to tell her that she played poorly. And if she did the same thing for me, well, that stuff wouldn’t be good for our relationship.” Moreover, he added that he did initially talk about soccer games and performances.

However, it ultimately proved to be of no use and the couple avoided such discussions. Carrasco said, “I think the marriage is more important. We kind of keep soccer separate.” Yet, he is more than happy to assist Alex Morgan with everything soccer-related. He even supported the USWNT star by attending the RO16 clash against Sweden in the FIFA World Cup.

With moments like this, it’s understandable why the pair remain the ultimate soccer couple in the country.
