Her mother, Nidia del Carmen Ripoll Torrado, is currently hospitalized with a leg thrombosis. Meanwhile, reports from different sources suggest that her father, William Mebarak Chadid, is in a ‘fragile’ state of health. This has not only led Shakira to stay with her parents. However, it also compelled her to make a drastic decision regarding her kids.

Apparently, as stated by El Nuevodia, due to her need for continuous medical care and multiple surgeries over time, Shakira made a challenging choice to temporarily take her children out of their school in Miami. She has relocated them to her hometown, Barranquilla. The primary motive for this shift in Milan and Sasha’s daily lives was the celebration of Shakira’s brother, Tonino Mebarak’s 55th birthday. Hence, the family opted to come together for this significant event, considering the health issues affecting the artist’s parents.

While it’s a decision tied to a family celebration, it underscores the importance of Shakira’s family in her life, especially during challenging times.

Back in September, the 46-year-old was accused of failing to meet her tax obligations to the Spanish government. In fact, a lawsuit was initiated in a Barcelona court. It alleges that she didn’t pay $16 million in taxes during her residency in Spain. Adding to her legal difficulties, a second lawsuit was promptly filed against her.

A group of Spanish prosecutors asserted she had used “companies located in countries with low taxes and high confidentiality” to manage her income while living in Spain. Shakira could potentially face a maximum prison sentence of eight years if she is proven guilty. Indeed, life continues to test Shakira.
