Soccer fans have unfortunately witnessed watching some of the worst career-ending injuries to a soccer player. While soccer is called the ‘beautiful game’, it has also been harsh on quite a few players. Recently, a player in Germany underwent surgery for a very bizarre injury. The German soccer star had to undergo emergency surgery after sustaining a knock in quite a sensitive area.

While doctors predict that he will return to pitch soon, the fans are still scratching their heads and wondering how it happened.

German soccer star undergoes surgery for testicular injury!

Matthias Bader recently picked up a testicular injury during a soccer game. The fullback will need to spend a month on the sidelines due to this bizarre injury. The unfortunate incident happened when Bader’s Darmstadt 98 faced SSV Jahn Regensburg. Darmstadt comfortably won the game 2-0. However, Bader had to be stretchered off the field in the 75 minute.

The medical staff did not rush the 25-year-old into an operation theater immediately. The doctors reportedly asked him to take rest and gave him primary treatment. However, a day later the pain reportedly kept sharply increasing. According to Bild, the doctors had to rush Bader into an operation theater. The German soccer star underwent surgery for his bizarre testicular injury.

After a successful surgery, the doctors put a 3-4 week recovery timeline for the bizarre injury. Darmstadt head coach, Torsten Lieberknecht,Lieberknecht, expressed his disappointment over losing the star fullback for over a month. He told BILD, “He has suffered a serious abdominal injury. The pain got worse, there was an emergency operation. He will be out for several weeks. This is a bitter loss for us”.

Every player hasn’t been as lucky as Matthias Bader. In the past, a few popular soccer stars sustained career-ending injuries. They had no choice but to hang up their boots prematurely for their own benefit.

Erling Haaland’s father, Alfie Haaland, is the first name on every career-ending injury list. Back in 2001, Manchester United legend, Roy Keane slammed into Haaland’s right knee during a horrific clash. The stakes of that game were already high because it was the Manchester Derby. Keane was unbruised after the tackle, however, Haaland had to retire prematurely due to this injury. Matters got even worse after Keane admitted that he did it on purpose.

Back in 2003, Ben Collett was one of Manchester United’s most promising young stars. He had just completed a season after Sir Alex Ferguson introduced him to the first team. However, during a reserve game against Middlesbrough United, Collett was on the receiving end of a horrific challenge. He sustained two significant fractures in the same leg and could never play soccer the same way again. Without a doubt, soccer as a sport has been cruel to quite a few unfortunate players in the past.
