Everything started in 2020 when Hening refused to kneel before the game. It turned sore for the player, who claimed the coach benched her after the incident. However, the court rejected the claims of the coach, who refused the allegations. Now the whole saga has taken a new turn, with players coming out to support the coach.
Coach Charles Adair gets support from team soccer players
The ongoing saga between Hening and Adair took a twist after the former and current Virginia Tech Soccer players released a statement. In the statement, players have supported the coach as they believe the allegations are baseless and distorted.

The joint statement read, “We are a group of current and former players of the Virginia Tech Women’s Soccer Program. But we are so much more than that. We are teachers, physicians, nurses, professional athletes, moms, engineers, lawyers, corporate leaders, scientists and much more. And we firmly stand with our coach, Charles “Chugger” Adair, against what we believe are baseless allegations made against him. We have spent countless hours training, traveling and playing under his leadership, and are devastated and appalled to see his character and integrity severely impugned.”
All 76 players praised Adair for his contribution to their development. They trust his principles and hope for a better future for the Virginia Tech Soccer team under him. It will be interesting to see how Kiersten Hening reacts to the statement from the 76 players.
Kiersten Hening got $100k from a settlement

A federal judge allowed Hening’s lawsuit to go to trial last month. However, Hening and Adair settled the case, and the player got $100k as compensation. Meanwhile, both parties have refused any wrongdoing while settling the case.
Hening now doesn’t play soccer, as she accused Adair of creating an environment that made her leave soccer. Her refusal to take a knee before the game for supporting Black Lives Matter as her views are different triggered everything.
