Wrexham fans will hope for another fairytale run as the side returns to League One this summer. The Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned side has gathered a lot of attention thanks to their performances, and opponents will surely keep an eye on the Red Dragons. As teams improve with every passing day, Wrexham players have no plans of sitting idle. Wrexham’s young star Max Cleworth has generated a lot of hype with his scintillating performances but still wants to take his game to the next level.

Talking about improving his game, the Wrexham star stated, “I think every bit still, really. I would say adding goals to my game is something I would like more of. I think adding goals going to probably propel me to levels higher and maybe just take responsibility, putting more weight on my shoulders; make things happen in games. But I think everything can still improve at the minute, certainly not a complete player by any means.”

Cleworth has improved leaps and bounds after joining the Welsh side. The 22-year-old was handed a contract extension following the team’s promotion to League Two and has done his best to repay the team’s faith in his abilities. With a lot left to come, it wouldn’t be surprising if the player finishes his career as a Wrexham icon!

Wrexham star open to leading the Red Dragons in the future

The Welsh side made a massive announcement this month as they informed fans about the release of skipper Luke Young and Ben Tozer. Both players had a memorable run with the team helping them clinch consecutive promotions. However, with the two shown the door, the club is in search of a new captain before the start of the new season. Star striker Paul Mullin is the leading man for the post, but it seems like emerging star Max Cleworth could line up for the position in a few years.

During his appearance on the Fearless in Devotion podcast, Cleworth talked about leading Wrexham. The youngster stated, “That’s something that I would like to be in the future, but you obviously never know what happens in football. But that would be something that means a lot to me if it happens one day. I don’t like to think too far in the future – take it day by day, or a season at a time and if happens one day, it happens. Obviously, just enjoy playing for the club at the minute and see what happens.”

The defender has a long way to go before he takes up the armband at Wrexham. Cleworth has impressed everyone with his performances and could be the one to keep an eye out for this season.
