Jose Mourinho has said he had to make a similar substitution during his time as Chelsea manager. He said, “With Matic at Stamford Bridge, he was on the bench. I put him on minute 45, I take him off around minute 70 because we are 3-1 down”. That’s education, that’s coaching. That’s doing anything to win. I had to (make the) change.” Unfortunately, in the end, the substitution did not work out as they lost 3-1.
