Premier League Matchday 7 sees Manchester City hosting Fulham at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, October 5. There will be no matches over the next two weeks as players regroup with their respective national teams for this mandatory international break. Therefore, both teams will be looking to secure three points before several of their players leave for international duty.

Manchester City enters this match with an enthralling 0-4 victory over Slovan Bratislava. Prior to this, things went south a bit for Pep Guardiola’s side as they were held 1-1 against Newcastle United at St. James Park. This saw them drop to second place with a tally of 14 while Erne Slot’s Liverpool takes the first place by just a difference of a point.

Meanwhile, Fulham enters Matchday 7 with a narrow victory over Nottingham Forest last week. Prior to this, they shockingly defeated Newcastle United 3-1, a team which City struggled against. Interestingly, Marco Silva’s side are doing just fine as they occupy 6th place in the table with 11 points. A surprising win against City will see them move up the rankings.

Midfield veteran Kevin De Bruyne suffered an injury during City’s recent UCL match against Inter Milan and has been absent for three games since. Guardiola is optimistic that the Belgian will be back after the international break. In the meantime, Oscar Bobb and Nathan Ake will also miss the upcoming clash with Fulham due to their own injuries.

Fulham

Marco Silva is believed to retain the starting XI he used in the previous fixture against Nottingham Forrest. While there are no major injury concerns for Fulham, caution remains for Saša Lukić over potential suspension. The Serbian midfielder has received four yellow cards in just six matches, and if he gets another caution, he will be suspended for the next home game against Aston Villa.

Manchester City [4-2-3-1]: Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol; Lewis, Kovacic; Silva, Foden, Savinho; Haaland.
