This While Manchester City have plenty of reason to celebrate, Pep Guardiola is not without his worries. The Cityzens romped through Fluminense in the finals of the Club World Cup, bagging a 4-0 win to bag the title for the first time in club history. However, the win might have come at an enormous price as it has been reported that Manchester City star Rodri might have suffered an injury during the game and is currently being assessed by the medical staff.

This is surely sad news for Pep Guardiola, who crossed a massive milestone following his team’s win over Fluminense. The former Barcelona boss now has the most Club World Cup titles under his belt, with the Spaniard surpassing rival Carlo Ancelotti to take the throne.

Rodri suffers a knee injury during the Club World Cup finals

Manchester City might have taken an enormous blow during the Club World Cup final with defensive midfielder Rodri reportedly picking up a knee injury.

According to a tweet from prominent soccer journalist Fabrizio Romano, “Man City midfielder Rodri has gone back down with the knee injury sustained during the World Cup final. He left the pitch and more will follow from Man City medical staff.”

This is an enormous blow for Manchester City as Rodri has been their most important player this season. The player was the star of the show for the team throughout the Club World Cup, bagging the Player of the Tournament. Rodri has also been the Sky Blues’ X-factor in the champions league as they lost in the final he was absent for and he scored the winning goal in the final he did play in. The Cityzens have evidently struggled in Rodri’s absence and Pep Guardiola will hope there is nothing serious when it comes to the player’s injuries.

Before City’s win over Fluminense, Guardiola has already had his hands on the title thrice. The first two of his three wins came during his time at Barcelona, with his team winning the title in 2009 and 2011. Guardiola then once again got his hands on the title with Bayern Munich in 2013. His latest win with Manchester City has seen him surpass Carlo Ancelotti, who has three Club World Cup titles to his name.
