Pep Guardiola’s side convincingly won the FIFA World Cup final against Brazilian giants Fluminense FC. They beat them 4-0. Both the Club World Cup games saw Manchester City score seven goals in two games. However, it was their star midfielder Rodri who impressed many. The Spanish midfielder with the consistent performances showed why he is so vital to how the team plays. His club teammate Sergio Gomez posted a photo on Twitter with the caption, “Happy to live it and learn at your side. The best player in the world.”

This is not the first time the Spanish international has received praise for his performances. The City fans have noticed his importance in the matches he does not start in. They suddenly do look like a weaker team. His goal in the Champions League final last season against Inter Milan will also remembered forever by the fans.

There is also no doubt that Manchester City’s medical staff will keep an eye on his fitness after his injury in the final. This is because the team has a bad record without their star midfielder in the team.

Manchester City struggle without Rodri

The absence of Rodri is one of the reasons the club is currently fourth in the Premier League. He has missed only 17 games for the club after signing for them in 2019. But, in the 17 games, they have lost ten games. However, the result is different with him in the team. In his 150 appearances, they have only lost 19 games in the presence of the Spanish midfielder.

Manchester City fans will be relieved in some sense that Rodri has not suffered a huge injury. After the game speaking to the media, he revealed that he cried after the tackle of the Fluminense defender on him.
