Manchester City have their eyes set on an unprecedented second consecutive treble. Their current season has been marked by injuries to the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland. But remarkably, the club is still in the race for three major titles. That being said how is the City squad shaping up for the last leg of the season? Let’s take a look.
City potentially has its most important clashes coming up in the next couple of weeks. After they take on Premier League toppers Arsenal next Sunday, they will head to Madrid to play the Spanish Champions on April 10, with two PL games sandwiched in between. Hence, it becomes even more important to have their key players fit ahead of the grueling next few weeks.

Erling Haaland
The Norwegian has been suffering physically this season. Haaland was seen limping off during Norway’s training in the international break a few days ago. However, the player himself said that there wasn’t much to worry about and cited that the game against Arsenal was crucial. After an ankle injury in December 2023 against Aston Villa, Haaland missed two months of action for Pep Guardiola’s side.
But much to the Cityzens’ relief, he is expected to be ready by the next game. He played 75 minutes in Norway’s defeat to the Czech Republic in a friendly.
Expected return date: March 31st, 2024.
Kevin De Bruyne
Forced to move away right after the first PL game of the season due to a hamstring injury, Kevin De Bruyne made a stunning comeback to the side. The player scored 2 goals and provided 12 assists in 13 appearances already. Meanwhile, Guardiola has been using him judiciously, but this time there is a slight concern, as he seems to suffer from a groin issue.
De Bruyne was left out of the Belgium squad after the national team manager spoke to the midfielder’s doctor. De Bruyne missed the FA Cup clash against Newcastle United and no update has been received about his returned date yet. Nevertheless, Guardiola may not want to hurry things with his key asset and important games ahead.
Expected return date: Unknown.
Kyle Walker
The quickest player in the Premier League was subbed off during England’s clash against Brazil. Saving a goal from a Vinicius Junior attempt, Walker was reported to have caught a hamstring strain. However, the player recently posted on Instagram hoping to be back ASAP, which is much needed for City’s back line.

Walker has emerged as a real injury concern due to the international break. Guardiola will hope that he plays a part in next week’s clash against the Gunners.
Expected return date: March 31st, 2024.
Matheus Nunes
The Portuguese player injured his finger in the round of 16 encounter against FC Copenhagen but was back recently to score for his national team. However, the latest reports suggest he wasn’t a part of the national team’s training today, as he is dealing with a foot knock. However, the intensity of the injury is not known.
There is no indication at the moment that this is anything serious for Nunes, who played just over an hour against Sweden. The player may not be an automatic pick in City’s starting XI, but given their run-in and their involvement in three major competitions, he could be a key squad player. We will have more clarity on his status ahead of Portugal’s match against Slovenia on Tuesday.
Expected return date: Unknown.

The Brazilian goalkeeper was taken away from City’s Liverpool match after a clash with striker Darwin Nunes. He was expected to be sidelined for three to four weeks. Ederson sat out City’s FA Cup win over Newcastle wasn’t part of Brazil’s friendly against England and won’t be available for their match against Spain as well.
Still, Guardiola is hopeful that his first-choice keeper won’t miss a significant period of action. Ahead of their FA Cup clash against Newcastle last weekend he said the player could be back after the international break.
Expected return date: March 31st, 2024/ first week of April.
