Manchester City can’t seem to catch a break. They had to settle with a point in their last outing against Liverpool, dropping to third place in the league. While the season is now approaching the business end, Pep Guardiola would love nothing more than to have all hands on deck. However, that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen anytime soon. From the looks of it, Kevin De Bruyne has suffered yet another injury.

KDB has been a super crucial part of the team’s success. His absence following the injury could leave a big void in the midfield. He returned to the squad earlier this year after a 5-month break. Despite that, he has yet to reach optimal fitness.

Pep Guardiola and his support staff will need to be very careful, as any rough blow could put the player on the sidelines for an even longer period than before. Belgium NT’s Domenico Tedesco addressed the media earlier and gave his decision to drop Kevin De Bruyne from the upcoming friendlies in March.

Tedesco stated, “He’s been playing with a minor groin issue during the last games. Yesterday, I spoke to the doctor and Kevin and we decided that the risk is too big. It’s better to give him time to recover well at City and then have him ready for the Euros.” With the Belgian head coach dropping a massive bomb, City will hope that their talisman hasn’t picked up a serious injury. Fans too will hope that he’s available during the last stretch of the campaign. The player will be absent from the FA Cup clash against Newcastle United.

To add more to Guardiola’s headache, De Bruyne might miss the league game against Arsenal too. However, the Belgian’s fitness is not the only blow for the Cityzens. The likes of Jack Grealish and Ederson could miss out on a chunk of Manchester City’s remaining fixtures.

No date set for Grealish and Ederson’s return, amid Kevin De Bruyne’s setback

While Manchester City is tackling the injury issue surrounding Kevin De Bruyne, the side was handed another major blow last week. First-choice goalie Ederson picked up an injury against Liverpool and was taken off. While Stefan Ortega did a decent job keeping his team in the game, his performances haven’t been on the level of inspiring faith among fans. According to Pep Guardiola, Ederson has picked up a thigh injury. However, they player has done well in recovery and could back in the team very soon.

Meanwhile, to give the team a little relief, Jack Grealish is now available for selection. The Englishman picked up a groin injury against Copenhagen in the UCL. He has been absent from the squad since and has missed out on making England’s NT squad for their March friendlies. The team will hope that the injured players can make a return soon, as each of them has an important role to play in the team.
