Manchester City would want nothing less than a win as they travel to the Vitality Stadium this Saturday. The defending Premier League champions will be up against Bournemouth in the coming encounter. A win will see the Cityzens narrow the gap with Liverpool at the top of the table. However, things will not be as easy as Pep Guardiola‘s men will be without the services of some of their top names heading into the fixture.

The Spanish tactician provided an update on the team during his press conference, commenting on the fitness of his players. With Kevin De Bruyne missing from the playing eleven last game, fans expected the manager to provide an update on his absence. Yet, Pep looks like he is beating around the bush regarding the Belgian’s fitness issues.

However, while the Belgian’s status might be up in the air, two names are guaranteed to miss the trip. Manchester City stars Jack Grealish and Josko Gvardiol have been out from the team following their injury against Copenhagen during the Champions League Round of 16. While fans would love to see the duo in action, it seems like they might have to wait for a while before the pair takes to the field.

While Guardiola did not comment on a deadline for the duo’s return, reports suggest the two could be back before the team’s second-leg clash against Copenhagen. However, City is unlikely to miss the two as the side has been on a roll with the returning Erling Haaland leading the charge for his side.

Erling Haaland needs to fire up the boosters for Manchester City…

While the Norwegian striker has played a leading role in the team’s success this season, it is time to put the feet on the gas. Haaland, following his return from injury, has featured in six games for the Cityzens. Nonetheless, despite his goal-scoring exploits, the striker seems to be far from his best. The Manchester City number nine has found the back of the net just thrice in the six games, including a brace against Everton, which is not Haaland standards at all!

With City reliant on his form, the player will need to find his touch before the next game. The Cityzens have some key games coming up this season, with the side still to take on the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Arsenal in the reverse fixtures. If Haaland cannot generate his old persona from last year, Pep Guardiola and his men could finish empty-handed this season.
