The Premier League title race continues to hold the breaths of soccer faithful worldwide. Moments ago, Manchester City secured a remarkable 0-4 win over Brighton. With this triumph, they not only threw water on all the hopes of the Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp, who rather wished for a ‘crisis’ for Pep Guardiola‘s side, but again managed to etch their names in the history books.
According to the analysis shared by OptaJoe on X, the Cityzens are the fourth side to score 4+ goals in four consecutive Premier League games. They have achieved this feat after Manchester United in April 2000, Man City themselves in May 2022, and Arsenal in March of this year. Furthermore, they are the only side to accomplish this achievement on two separate occasions.
Notably, besides today’s thumping 4-0 win, a 4-1 over Aston Villa, 2-4 win over Crystal Palace, and 5-1 victory against Luton Town have what helped them clinch this remarkable feat. It wouldn’t be surprising to see them break the record further by clinching a win against their next rivals, Nottingham Forrest. But keeping aside the jumping-over-conclusions factor, it’s quite a remarkable achievement for the Sky Blues.

Interestingly, Kevin De Bruyne broke the deadlock in the 17th minute, with Phil Foden adding his brace before the first half in less than 10 minutes. Meanwhile, the latter half saw Julian Alvarez adding City’s fourth, bringing an end to the goal fiesta. Additionally, with this victory, Pep Guardiola and his side have definitely ruffled the feathers of Jurgen Klopp, who rather hopes to see his arch-rival stumble in the last days of the title race.
