In the 53rd minute of the Manchester City-Everton match, Bernardo Silva set up Phil Foden for a long-range opening goal with a pass from outside the box. With this, Silva has provided as many Premier League assists as Cristiano Ronaldo (37). CR7 managed to tally these many assists in 236 appearances for Manchester United during his two stints with the club. Whereas, it took Bernardo Silva only 215 matches to provide as many Premier League assists as the Al Nassr star.

In the same match, Silva went on to score City’s 3rd goal which completely sealed Everton’s fate. The triumphant match against Everton is a testament to the spectacular season Silva has been having. The Portuguese midfielder has tallied five goals and four assists in 15 matches. Besides, Silva has a huge responsibility on his shoulder, considering the midfield void in Man City, due to Kevin De Bruyne’s injury. Now a match away from breaking Ronaldo’s PL assist record, Silva is also close to surpassing the former’s total assists in United.

Bernardo Silva has a clear edge over Ronaldo regarding assists

Ronaldo has 64 assists in 346 matches across all competitions for Manchester United. Bernardo Silva, on the other hand, already has 63 assists in 329 matches for Man City across competitions. The 29-year-old midfielder has clearly taken fewer matches than his Portuguese compatriot to provide more assists. For Portugal’s national team, Ronaldo undisputedly dominates every other statistic. But Bernardo Silva will soon overtake CR7 to be Portugal’s better provider if things go well.
