Steve Watkins recently gave a legend status to Mullin. Wrexham fans know Watkins for that goal against Premier League giants Arsenal. His goal secured a dramatic win for the club over Arsenal in 1992 in the third round of the FA Cup. Watkins also drew a comparison between the former goal-scoring machine for Wrexham, Gary Bennett, and Mullin, saying both are legends.
Former Wrexham star heaps praise on Paul Mullin
While speaking of Mullin, Watkins said, “I’ve not missed many games this season and last season and Paul has been brilliant. Not just his goals but his work-rate for the team, he never stops running. He has been a major part of the success we’ve had this season.”

Watkins didn’t stop there. He compared the striker to former striker Bennett, who scored 77 goals for the club in the league between the 1992-93 to 1994-95 seasons. “The only possible difference you’d take from both of them is that Benno did it a couple of leagues higher up. It is difficult to choose between them who is the better player, but I think they will both go down as Wrexham legends.” said Watkin.
Steve Watkins is a home-grown player who started his youth career at Wrexham AFC. He went on to play for eight seasons for the club between 1989 to 1997. He then moved to Swansea City, where he spent six seasons. Watkins scored over 50 goals for Wrexham in the league in over 200 appearances.
