Most fans love the hard-pressing all-action soccer of Bielsa, and reports emerged that either of the two teams would be in contention. Following a disappointing World Cup in Qatar, Gerardo Martino left the job. Hence, the team aims to reignite its strategy with Bielsa on top of the wishlist.

USMNT and Mexican soccer teams fight for Marcelo Bielsa

Much like Mexico, a disappointing outcome in the Fifa World Cup cost coach Gregg Berhalter his job. The interim head coach is Anthony Hudson, as the board hopes to find a permanent coach soon. While the English Premier League side Everton hoped to recruit Bielsa, they didn’t see him as a perfect fit. Instead, Sean Dyche took over the reins at Goodison Park. But, with Jesse Marsch sacked from Leeds, there are reports he may be in contention for the vacant post.

Coming to Mexico, they have two more candidates lined up. Former Mexican national team coach Miguel Herrera hopes to come back as well, while Guillermo Almada, manager of Pachuka, is also in line to be the next head coach. An interview with Rodrigo Ares de Parga – general sports director of the Mexican Football Federation, is hoping to meet Bielsa to discuss the finer details. Aiming to understand the way he goes about his business, they hope to conclude the deal.

With the World Cup played on home soil, Marsch has done wonders with the teams he managed. Although it ended acrimoniously at Leeds, the American soccer fraternity still respects the 49-year-old manager. The high-intensity soccer followed by intelligent pressing probably helps the team to create a good shape. Moreover, working closer to his roots would probably help him connect with his players.
