After putting away those Coca-Cola bottles, he endorsed the importance of drinking water by replacing them with water bottles. Recently, a similar video surfaced on social media where the Portuguese is drinking water during a press conference.

Fans react to Cristiano Ronaldo drinking water 

The Al Nassr FC superstar is on national duty. They played Liechtenstein and will be playing Luxembourg in a few days in the Euro 2024 qualifiers. He was at a press conference ahead of their game against Liechtenstein, where the Portuguese captain was seen drinking water continuously while answering questions. 

The fans were quick to respond to the video. One fan wrote, “Man has made drinking water a phenomenon.” Obviously, they recalled the incident from the Euro 2020, where he urged everyone to drink water instead of Coca-Cola. 

Ronaldo revealed in the press conference that he thought about retirement after the torrid Qatar World Cup campaign. However, after a discussion with his family and close friends, he decided to continue. It would have come as a shock for the fans had he retired. 

Portugal’s new manager was clear in his team selection and called Al Nassr forward for national duty. His age wasn’t a concern for Roberto Martinez, as he counted on his experience and leadership qualities. Ronaldo scored twice and proved Martinez’s decision right. 

Ronaldo breaks another record

When the former Real Madrid superstar was named in the starting lineup, he broke the record for the most international appearances in men’s soccer. He was on a level with Bader Al-Mutawa of Kuwait before the Liechtenstein game. Ronaldo now has 197 appearances in international soccer and will potentially become the first male player to have 200 international appearances in the next international break.

He scored twice in Portugal’s victory in a record-breaking game against Liechtenstein. He scored the first goal from the penalty spot and the second with a thumping free kick. With this, he becomes the first player to score 100 competitive goals, excluding the goals from friendlies. He now has 121 goals for Portugal.
