Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric have written many success stories together in Real Madrid. Al Nassr knows it and they want the duo to write it again. The Saudi Arabian side tried to convince Modric to follow Ronaldo’s suit last summer. However, the Croatian skipper closed the door on the move and opted to stay in Madrid, with the Spanish giant extending his contract by one year. Anyhow, the midfield maestro would soon call it a day in the Spanish capital, as his contract expires this summer. So, does Al Nassr have one more chance to get the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner’s signature? Yes, they have.

As per fellow Croatian and Al Nassr’s former sporting director Goran Vucevic, Luka Modric can still mull a Cristiano Ronaldo reunion.“Luka Modric told me (last summer) that he would be interested in accepting #النصر offer if Real Madrid did not offer him a new contract,” said Goran Vucevic, as compiled by the Saudi Arabian X handle, X99i3. Unlike last year, there is little to no chance for the 38-year-old to stay in the Spanish capital.

This season, Luka Modric has seen a significant drop in his game time. Moreover, playing from Modric’s position, Jude Bellingham has emerged as Real Madrid’s star signing of the season. Bellingham is aided by fellow young midfielders such as Eduardo Camavinga, Fede Valverde, and Aurelien Tchouameni at the Bernabeu. So, there’s a snowball’s chance in hell for Modric to receive a contract extension. Even so, Cristiano Ronaldo’s side is not the only team competing for the Croatian’s signature. The Riyadh side will have to wait till Modric says no to his boyhood club to close in on his move.

Modric’s boyhood team could threaten his potential reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo

Luka Modric kick-started his storied club career in 2003 by playing for the Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb. Now that Modric will soon be out of contract, Zagreb is going the extra mile to bring him back home. Recently, the Croatian club took a page from the Spanish publication Marca’s Saturday edition, inviting Modric to return. Marca’s newspaper featured a full-page ad that had the 38-year-old’s #10 jersey in Dinamo Zagreb’s color. Only time will tell if the 5x- UEFA Champions League winner will opt for an emotional homecoming or a reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo.
