Lionel Messi made soccer history as he won his 8th Ballon d’Or this year. Among the millions of fans, many former and current teammates congratulated him for winning the trophy. But, in all this, the comment from his former FC Barcelona teammate Luis Suarez has taken everyone by surprise. While he wholeheartedly congratulated the Inter Miami star, there was a twist of sarcasm to it as well!

Interestingly, this comment also comes amid his links to Inter Miami this season. The MLS club already has one foreign player space vacant as they reportedly will let go of Josef Martinez on a free transfer.

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez have been the best of friends since their Barcelona days. Their partners also remain friends with each other. On several occasions, the two families have hung out together. Hence, a congratulatory message from Suarez for his ex-Barcelona teammate wasn’t too much of a surprise. However, the actual text of his message in which he lauded Messi for the Ballon d’Or win has left everyone jaw-dropped.

After Lionel Messi posted the photo of him winning the Ballon d’Or title, Luis Suarez immediately made a funny comment that took everyone off-guard. He wrote, How great you are, fat! Now work hard to get the ninth. Have a good time because you deserve it.” Without a doubt, it looks like a piece of friendly banter from Luis Suarez. 

There is certainly a chance that Lionel Messi will similarly give him back a funny answer. However, regarding Luis Suarez, the stage is set for him to reunite with the Argentinian at Inter Miami for the upcoming season. What’s the latest update?

The Uruguayan forward had said in an interview that he would love to reunite with Lionel Messi for the final time. Inter Miami also tried their best to sign him with the arrival of Messi. However, Gremio refused to let him go for a free transfer. But, Luis Suarez has confirmed that he will leave the Brazilian club on a free after the expiry of his contract. It looks like Inter Miami is also pushing for Suarez’s wish.

The MLS club has already announced that they will not extend the contract of Colombian striker Josef Martinez. This makes one space free for the signing of a foreign name specifically. There are also rumors that Lionel Messi has also personally requested the signing of Luis Suarez. Both of them had a combined total of 621 goals between them in only 258 games during their time together at Barcelona.
