It was yet another monumental night for Cristiano Ronaldo. Yesterday, the Portuguese superstar etched his name in the history books by scoring the most goals in a single Saudi Pro League season during Al Nassr’s remarkable win over Al Ittihad in a six-goal thriller. However, Luis Castro wants his star player to achieve even greater heights of success, as the manager ‘spoke‘ with other players to help CR7 reach the Saudi League’s all-time top scorer record.
During the post-match presser, while discussing Ronaldo’s latest achievement, the Portuguese tactician said, “I spoke with the players about scoring the 100th goal in the league, and helping Cristiano Ronaldo to be the all-time top scorer in the Saudi League.” //(Via @X99i3 on X.) Notably, Majed Abdullah holds this esteemed title, having netted 186 goals in 194 matches over his illustrious 20-year career.
In contrast, Ronaldo has scored 56 goals in 62 games within just two seasons. Given that this is likely his final year, it appears improbable for him to reach Abdullah’s milestone. However, Castro remains optimistic, believing that with the support of other talented players, Ronaldo can still strive for the goal of at least reaching 100 goals. Interestingly, Ronaldo would require a lot to also become Al Nassr’s all-time top scorer.

This distinction currently belongs to former Knights of the Najd star, Mohammed Al-Sahlawi, who amassed 119 goals in 255 games. While it remains to be seen how Ronaldo will achieve the all-time feat, let’s discuss his heroics from last night, where he also fell short of achieving a major feat.
Despite achieving a major feat, Cristiano Ronaldo misses on major key milestones
Unlike his Real Madrid days, where Cristiano Ronaldo scored five goals on two occasions, he failed to score most goals in a single Roshn League game. Sami Al-Jaber’s six goals during Al Hilal’s 8-0 win over Al-Raed in 1990 is still the most by any player in a single league game. The skipper also failed to take over the record for the most goals scored by a foreign player, with former Al-Ahli star Djaniny topping the chart with five goals. Notably, CR7 has only managed to score just 4 goals in a single match, which came during a 0-4 win over Al Wehda last season.

Fortunately, he ended the season with 35 goals, not just being this season’s top scorer but also winning the League’s all-time record for scoring most goals in a single season. Ironically, Ronaldo overtook this crown from Al Nassr’s previous striker and current Al Ittihad star, Abderrazak Hamdallah. The Moroccan had scored 34 goals during the 2018–19 campaign. But the intrigue circles back to Luis Castro’s ambition to see Ronaldo become the Roshn Saudi League all-time top-scorer. Can he do it? Well, share your views in the comments.
