Even the best players struggle at times. Cristiano Ronaldo is no exception, with the Portuguese skipper going through one of the most strenuous years of his career in 2022. However, things took a U-turn following Ronaldo’s decision to join Al Nassr, with the player doing a complete 180. Al Nassr boss Luis Castro commented on the player’s improved mental state since joining the Saudi Arabian outfit.
Notably, Cristiano had a troublesome World Cup campaign in 2022 that saw his side knocked out in the quarter-finals. His club career was no different, with his relationship with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag reaching an all-time low. However, the change of scenery has done wonders for the Al Nassr skipper, who bounced back last year, emerging as the top goal scorer for the calendar year.

Cristiano Ronaldo has taken a sigh of relief following his move to Al Nassr. Despite a slow start at the Middle Eastern club, the Portuguese talisman flourished after the appointment of Luis Castro. The duo has emerged as a driving force behind the club’s success in recent months.
The Al Nassr boss, in an interview with the Chinese newspaper ‘Titan Sports’, commented on Cristiano’s mental state. “I often say that when your face doesn’t laugh, your feet don’t laugh either. Cristiano was in a moment of some sadness, due to some events in his personal and professional life. There was this intention of giving him back his joy, through training and games. This was achieved.”
Castro continued, “He responded very naturally to what was asked of him and today he is once again a world reference, as he always was. For what he plays and for who he is, on and off the field. The team captain must be a reference in any dressing room in the world. And when the captain is the best player in the world, his presence and leadership become even stronger.” (Sourced from report. pt)
