During Wrexham’s clash against Philadelphia Union II, co-owner Rob McElhenney was one of the attendees. The Always Sunny actor sat in the VIP stands of Subaru Park as he came in high spirits to enjoy the match. However, just like other fans, his spirits eventually lowered as the match saw a delay of over two hours during halftime due to a thunderstorm.

In the meantime, while the whole stadium waited for the sky to clear, McElhenney thought of sending a message to his best bud Reynolds. The actor took out his phone and recorded the message while posting it on his Instagram story. The message said, “Hey Ryan, still here at the match. There was a little bit of rain delay, about 4 hours. Some of these were still playing. There in the UK you’re probably waking up, you can watch the rest of it.”

“Anyway, there’s still people cheering Wrexham, there’s still a lot of people that remain. Anyway, miss you. Love you. Up the Town. Up the Town, let’s hope we don’t get disrupted by lighting. Love you, Bye,” he concluded. Indeed, it was quite a thoughtful and heartfelt message that he recorded for his best friend.

Notably, Reynolds wasn’t in the United States; he was in the UK. This enticed McElhenney to send him a miss you message. Eventually, following his message, the match began, but it ended in a draw.

Wrexham held on to draw against Philadelphia Union II

Earlier, Sam Dalby had a goal disallowed. However, the Union’s Jeremy Rafanello equalized the score with a well-taken free-kick. The Red Dragons could have clinched a hattrick of wins, as they previously won matches against LA Galaxy II and Manchester United. Nevertheless, it was quite a memorable preseason for them. Now they’ll be looking to start their new campaign in high spirits.
