Wrexham AFC, co-owned by Ryan Reynolds, took on Maidstone United in the league game on Saturday. Every game is crucial for the third-oldest soccer club as they are looking for an automatic promotion spot. However, the goal scored by a Wrexham player in the 29th minute of the game amazed the Deadpool star after a new angle emerged.

Wrexham got crucial three points from the game to keep pace with table toppers Notts County. Both clubs are on 62 points, with Wrexham having a game in hand. It’s still a long way to go, but Reynolds is happy with the progress the club is showing who will next face Gateshead in the league.

Ryan Reynolds is in awe after the fan posted a new angle of the goal

Wrexham midfielder Luke Young scored a fantastic opener in the 29th minute on Saturday against Maidstone United. Young hit the ball first time on the volley from outside the box after Goalkeeper’s clearance fell to him. It was a composed finish by the midfielder, who placed the ball in the empty net, sending fans crazy.

However, one Wrexham AFC fan posted the clip of the goal from behind the opponent’s goalpost and tagged the owners. Reynolds, who is always active on social media to promote his club, gave a three-word response to the tweet“Love This Angle.” 

Wrexham came into the game three points behind the leaders, Notts County. They kept the pressure on the leaders by winning the game in injury time. Luke Young’s screamer in the 29th minute and top-scorer Paul Mullin’s penalty in the 59th minute gave Wrexham a well-deserved comfortable lead.

However, a brace by Jack Barham (72nd and 79th minute) pegged back Wrexham, who had to rely on Aaron Hayden’s 91st-minute winner. The win took Wrexham level on points with Notts County with a game still in hand. It will be interesting to see which club grabs the automatic promotion spot from the league.

National League has two promotion spots to the third division

As we know, the National League is the fifth tier of the English soccer pyramid, and the clubs from this league are directly promoted to the third tier. National League has two spots available for promotion to the third division.

Champions automatically get promoted to the third division. The promotion playoffs decide the second spot. Clubs ranked second to fifth face each other in the two-legged playoff semifinal and then a final between the winners. The winner of the Promotion Playoff Final grabs the second spot in the promotion.

Last season, Wrexham finished second and was beaten by Grimsby Town in the playoff semifinal, dashing their hopes of promotion. Wrexham looks good this season and will hope to win the National League and get automatically promoted to the third division.
