Moreover, his interview with journalist Piers Morgan proved to be the final nail in the coffin. The club mutually terminated his contract. And the new manager Erik Ten Hag is slowly building a team without Ronaldo. Looking back at the results, it’s safe to say things are going as planned.

Erik Ten Hag explains why he didn’t incorporate Cristiano Ronaldo
Ten Hag explained the issue related to Ronaldo and how soccer philosophies are a part and parcel of the game. According to the Mirror, he stated, “You have to adapt, definitely, but for instance, for me, now football is about attacking with 11 players and defending with 11 players. So, if you ask me about full-backs, you find them sometimes in positions you don’t expect them. That’s what I like. I’m looking for that type of player.”
