Paris Saint Germain, formed in 1970, has been playing their games at Parc des Princes. Paris City Council owns the stadium, and PSG has it on lease. However, now the decision by Paris mayor has left PSG furious. Questions have arisen about whether stars like Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe will play at the stadium in the future or not.

The Paris Mayor, in her latest interview, has rejected the offer of PSG to buy Parc des Princes. The decision hasn’t gone down well with QSI, who owns the club. They have threatened to leave the current stadium despite making investments to renovate and have a lease until 2034.

PSG’s offer to own Parc des Princes rejected

PSG wanted to purchase the Parc des Princes and made an initial offer last year in November. However, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo recently, in an interview with Le Parisien, rejected the offer. Hidalgo said, “We have a very clear position. The Parc des Princes is not for sale, and it will not be sold. This is a firm and definitive position. It is an exceptional heritage for Parisians.”

The decision brings disappointment to the PSG camp and threatens to leave the stadium in the future, despite investing enormous amounts. PSG also planned a $542 million investment to increase the current capacity to over 80000. They think the current strength is too small for a club of the stature of PSG.

“It is regrettable that the Mayor is now suddenly foreclosing — definitively – the sale discussions we’ve been having for a long time, with the club now sadly forced to advance alternative options for our home, which is not the outcome the club or our fans were hoping for,” PSG spokesperson said on the Mayor’s decision
