Lionel Messi made jaws drop when he decided to join Inter Miami from PSG. Fresh off winning the World Cup, and Ligue 1, there was no doubt that Messi could’ve played in Europe for 2 more seasons. Yet he decided to join the MLS which is a huge deal because his quality will elevate the league both on and off the pitch.

MLS commentator and former New England Revolution legend Taylor Twellman earlier today revealed that he is still in disbelief with Messi’s arrival. “Nobody ever thought it would be real,”. The media personality believes that the league has never peaked higher than this until now. “I think it is the pinnacle moment in this league’s history.”
He delved into it further by giving a metaphor of gas and fire. “It’s a rocket ship to the moon,” Twellman said. “Without Messi, everyone was going to be looking at the United States. Then you add the GOAT on top of that? You literally put gas on the fire,” explained Twellman.

Thanks to a dominant display against Atlanta United, Inter Miami have qualified for the knockout rounds of the Leagues Cup. Their opponent still hasn’t been decided owing to qualification matches still taking place. The date however is fixed.
Messi and his gang will next take the field on the 2nd of August. with three teams from Group 2 still in the fray. Houston Dynamo is on three points from two matches while Orlando City is on two points from one match. Santos Laguna also has a chance currently with them being on 1 point from 1 match. The fate of qualification will be decided this Saturday when Orlando takes on Laguna in a do-or-die match.
