The Argentine led his side to World Cup glory, thus creating history for himself and his country. It was a tough road for La Albiceleste, but eventually, with the help of team contributions, they managed to win the tournament. Despite the squad’s heroics and positive momentum going into their club form, one member of the team is failing to delivering on expectations.
A World Cup winner gets a major warning
While the whole Argentina squad came back with smiling faces, there was one player who came back with anger issues. Lionel Messi’s teammate, Cristian Romero, came back from Qatar in quite an angry mood.

Ever since the player made a return to his domestic side, he has picked up over 9 yellow cards, including two sending-offs. In fact, the referee dismissed the player last night, during the Champions League clash between Tottenham and Milan.
Romero received his first booking after a sliding challenge on Rafael Leao. The center-back was the first person to get his name in the referee’s book. The referee later sent Romero off after he received another yellow card for a nasty challenge to Hernandez.
The player was quite disciplined during the FIFA World Cup, as he received just two yellow cards on separate occasions. But ever since Romero came back to Tottenham, he has struggled to maintain his disciplinary record. Another Argentine hero also suffered a setback in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Early exit for Lionel Messi and his friend
It was a major upset for both the Argentine duo as they both faced an early exit from the Round of 16 of the Champions League. Romero’s side may have played a goalless draw against Milan, yet they lost on the aggregate score of 0-1.

An early strike from Brahim Diaz in the first leg was enough to eliminate Antonio Conte’s side. Moreover, a red card for Romero was enough to break the Spurs’ confidence.
On the other hand, Messi endured a second consecutive Round of 16 exit with PSG. The Parisians lost on an aggregate score of 3-0, after losing the second leg by 2-0. It was indeed a horrible performance from both PSG and Tottenham as they failed to book their place in the quarter-finals.
