After making a shock switch from Europe, Ronaldo is settling quite well in Saudi Arabia. The 37-year-old signed a whopping $200 million-a-year contract, thus becoming the highest-paid player. He is yet to feature in an official match, but fans will see him play against PSG in a Riyad All-Star match.

Messi’s former teammate rejects Al Nassr

Ronaldo’s transfer has given his new club, Al Nassr, much confidence to sign other players from Europe. There are merely a few people who would reject any such offer to play beside him, however, all that has been debunked.

According to several reports, the Saudi Arabian club offered a massive deal to current FC Barcelona captain, Sergio Busquets. The Spanish midfielder’s contract will expire this year on June 30 and is yet to be renewed with his childhood club.

It is being said that Al Nassr had tabled a massive €20 million per season deal for the 34-year-old. However, Busquets has rejected the offer in order to stay at Nou Camp.

After coming from the ranks of La Masia, Busquets had a breakthrough under the Guardiola era in 2008. Since then, the Spaniard has made 701 appearances for his childhood club. He has scored 18 goals and has 42 assists in all competitions. In all these years, he has won 31 trophies for the Blaugrana.

What’s next for Busquets?

Busquets is the most decorated player in the history of Barcelona. The former teammate of Lionel Messi has been a crucial figure at the club. But, in the past couple of years, fans have criticized the player for his lack of mobility on the pitch.

However, the skipper led his side to a triumph against arch-rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup. He has played 13 out of 16 league matches this season. They are currently at the top of the table and are preparing for a showdown against Manchester United in the Europa League play-offs.
