Is there a way to stop Lionel Messi? This question has perplexed famous coaches and players alike, prompting creative tactics and, in some cases, outright admiration. The legendary Bulgarian Hristo Stoichkov once famously said, “You need a machine gun to stop Messi.” While a gun isn’t the ideal approach, rival fans have taken a rather unorthodox approach to tackle the Messi conundrum. As Argentina gears up to face Peru in a pivotal match, Messi has been bound by the rituals performed by religious practitioners determined to thwart Argentina’s chances of winning.

In a shocking incident, a group of Peruvian shamans conducted specific rituals to influence the outcome of the match between Argentina and Peru. In a video that has surfaced, numerous shamans are seen praying to ‘Tayta Inti’ while reciting spells. These rituals were performed after consuming a hallucinogenic drink known as ayahuasca.

The shamans, dressed in colorful traditional clothing, set up an altar at the National Stadium. On this altar, they placed various talismans, swords, flags representing both teams, and photographs of players. Additionally, the shamans used a brown rag doll with a photograph of Messi on it. Not just Messi but they also placed swords and thorns on a photograph of defender Nicolás Otamendi.

Argentina currently leads the CONMEBOL table with a perfect record of three victories, totaling nine points. On the flip side, Peru finds itself second to last in the 10-team table with just one point. Hence, to enhance their chances of securing a vital three points, the Peruvian shamans are resorting to these rituals.
