La Pulga opened up about his World Cup triumph in a recent interview. The Argentine skipper was lauded by supporters around the country, who praised him for winning the title for the first time. Messi, almost a year following the win, has spoken up about his feelings following the victory.

Messi stated, “There are very few players who can say that they have achieved everything in football, and thank God I am one of them.” 

The Argentine has won multiple titles throughout his career. During his time with the national team, FC Barcelona, PSG, and Inter Miami, he has won 44 titles. Messi’s World Cup triumph will go down in history as one of his biggest wins, considering it helped him bag his historic eighth Ballon d’Or title.

Lionel Messi made history in September as he became the first player in the history of soccer to win 8 Ballon d’Or titles. The Argentine, following the win, broke his record to stand at the top of the mountain. La Pulga’s career accolade also saw him surpass nations such as Germany and France, who were at the top of overall Ballon d’Or winners from a single nation.

The win also saw the Albiceleste captain become the oldest player since 1956 to win the coveted award. Messi is now the second oldest player behind England icon Sir Stanley Matthews to get his hands on the award. Apart from his main accolades, the Inter Miami star etched his name in history books, becoming the first active MLS player to win the Ballon d’Or.
