Lionel Messi Snubs Prestigious French League’s UNFP Awards for Coldplay Concert in Barcelona as Hundreds Beg Him to Join La Liga Champions

Fans across the globe are currently witnessing the end of a fantastic but stretched soccer season. Especially, Lionel Messi fans have had the time of their life this season. Starting off with winning the FIFA World Cup in December, the Argentine might now be back on his way to FC Barcelona. After a crack in relations with Paris Saint-Germain, the insiders have revealed that FC Barcelona will do all it can to pull off a Messi comeback.

However, the Argentine has done the unthinkable again. This time, he skipped the prestigious French soccer awards ceremony for a Coldplay concert.

What did Messi snub for a Coldplay concert?

Toward the end of every soccer season, the French soccer board organizes its own set of awards. This is mainly to award deserving candidates from Ligue 1, Ligue 2, French women’s soccer, managers, and referees in the country. The biggest stars of the French soccer league, including Kylian Mbappe had turned up for the award ceremony.

Interestingly, even Didier Deschamps and Guy Stephan were present at the event. The two of them had brought World Cup ‘Champions’ glory back to France for the first time since 1998. Without a doubt, Kylian Mbappe was one of the nominees for the best Ligue 1 player of the season. Along with him, Lionel Messi, Seko Fofana, Lois Openda, and Jonathan David were part of the nominee list.

Unsurprisingly, Mbappe was crowned the Best Ligue 1 player for the fourth time in a row. However, while Messi’s name was there on the list, he shockingly wasn’t present at the award show. Instead, the soccer veteran preferred to attend a Coldplay concert in Barcelona. In fact, he wasn’t even in France!

Considering the recent public feud between Lionel Messi and PSG, the Argentine already has his heart set on his former soccer club. Without a doubt, also his fans feel the same way.

Quite a few videos have emerged from the Coldplay concert in Barcelona. The videos weren’t of Coldplay but of Lionel Messi. In one of them, the fans are agonizingly chanting ‘Messi, Messi’, while they hope for a potential return. Recently, the soccer veteran had a slight tussle with Paris Saint Germain, his current soccer club.

After receiving a cruel suspension, the soccer veteran sorted himself out with the club by issuing a public apology. Basically, he had gone on an ‘unauthorized’ trip to Saudi Arabia. Soon, the angered PSG Board of Directors suspended him for two weeks without pay. Even the fans accused the World Winner of ‘not caring enough’.
