And now, he won the FIFA Men’s Best Player award after a stunning season. But after he received his accolades, Messi described the feeling he had winning the trophy. Moreover, he pointed out the single significant achievement in his life; winning the World Cup.

In his fifth attempt, he finally won the crowing jewel and became sainted in the streets of Rosario. Yes, that’s the glittering moment of his career, according to the pocket-size player from the Pampas. In his speech, he relived the iconic 2022 Qatar World Cup, as fans couldn’t get enough of it.

Despite achieving almost everything he had in his career, the World Cup trophy eluded him. However, the 2022 Qatar World Cup showcased why he is probably the greatest player of his generation. He explained how that moment would be etched forever in his heart. Messi stated, “The World Cup win was the best thing that happened to my career, Thanks to God who helped me to achieve it after so many years of trying.”

He defeated World Cup finalists France’s Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema to take the grand prize. Earlier, Benzema won the Ballon d’Or award. But this time, everyone knew where the award was heading to. Messi and Argentina ended the 36-year-old drought of Argentina, to win the World Cup. Moreover, his performances during the competition were spell-binding, which proved to be the difference in the competition’s voting.

What’s next for Messi?

Entering his twilight years, the PSG superstar has not extended his contract with the French club. Instead, a potential route back to boyhood club Barcelona remains on the cards. On the other hand, David Beckham’s MLS side Inter Miami is also interested to bring him to the US. Therefore, the ambition of a man to keep striving to win trophies is inspiring.
