After a long wait for soccer fans, MLS has started its new season. And the first day has been full of action and chaos. None of the matches ended in a draw and fans are enjoying the showers of goals. The soccer fandom is having a great time comparing MLS players with legends such as Thiago Almada with Lionel Messi.

There are a few moments in the opening day that stand out more than the rest. One such adrenaline-inducing moment came in a match between Atlanta United and San Jose.

In other matches, Nashville started their season with a 2-0 win. Philadelphia defeated Columbus 4-1, Cincinnati defeated Houston dynamo, and New England defeated Charlotte. Orlando City began the season with a 1-0 win over NY Red Bulls. DC United vs Toronto was another last-minute stunner where the match-winning goal came at 90+8th minute.

Inter Miami defeated Montreal 2-0, and Austin vs St. Louis went from 2-1 to 2-3 in a matter of few minutes. All these matches had buzz and fans waiting for them, but none had the fans scream like Atlanta United vs San Jose.

Fans got to see the heroics of Thiago Almada

The match Atlanta United vs San Jose was one-sided during the regular time. Jeremy Ebobisse scored a 12th-minute stunner for San Jose, which Atlanta United could equalize in the next 78 minutes. When the referee added 10 minutes to the game, it was 1-0 for San Jose.

Fans thought it was an easy win for San Jose, but Argentinian starlet Thiago Almada had decided to summon his inner Messi. Here are a few reactions to his mind-blowing free kick.

Thiago Almada scored a 90+3 minute equalizer on the back of an amazing pass by Brooks Lennon. But the work wasn’t done, he got a free kick 90+9th minute. If Atlanta United was going to win this game, this is the time. He had to convert the kick. He did not disappoint. A rocket of a kick to the left top corner of the goalkeeper.

This kick is very reminiscent of what Lionel Messi did for PSG just a week back. He also got a free kick at the very last minute of the game. Lionel Messi reminded fans that he is still a match-winner with that kick.
