Lionel Messi won his 8th Ballon d’Or on October 30th. This historic achievement by the Argentine was perhaps one of his more disputed awards. An award that Erling Haaland would have been worthy of as well. FIFA World Cup and Ballon d’Or winner Lothar Matthaus also rooted for Haaland. The latest to join in on the debate is a popular Nigerian artist. However, this particular rapper went miles ahead of the German pundit while putting his point across. He was quick to express who he thought was the ‘GOAT’ and his statements surely won’t have pleased Messi fans.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi is currently enjoying a much-needed break. The Argentina star will soon be preparing for his next season with Inter Miami. A season where Inter Miami is expected to achieve special things. While Messi is having a rest from soccer, his critics seem restless.

Recently on the Zero Conditions Podcast, Reminisce expressed his views on the Ballon d’Or. He said, “He(Messi) didn’t win anything, he was gifted, everybody knows this. I said this last year, Cristiano Ronaldo is the one true GOAT, Lionel Messi is FIFA’s creation.” Without a doubt, these were some strong words from Reminisce. However, his claim regarding Ronaldo as the ‘GOAT’ isn’t too surprising since he addresses himself as a CR7 fanboy. Moreover, he went on to claim that the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar was scripted for an Argentina win.
While Reminisce doesn’t agree with the verdict, many others believe that Lionel Messi was the rightful winner. Coach Pep Guardiola said that the Argentine deserved to have his own dedicated Ballon d’Or every year. Regardless of opinions, Lionel Messi has completed soccer. The World Cup was the only missing trophy from his cabinet. Yet, one of his former teammates believes that Messi is not a good example for young players. What was that all about?

Bojan Krkic knows Lionel Messi well. The former Barcelona man played with Messi from 2007 to 2011. In an interview with Diario AS, Bojan gave his thoughts. The Spain attacker said, “Neither Messi nor Cristiano [Ronaldo] nor Rafa Nadal are ordinary cases, they cannot be the example for young people. They are extraordinary”.
Bojan’s statement makes sense as youngsters are putting enormous pressure on themselves by hoping to emulate Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. As someone who has suffered from panic attacks due to pressure, Bojan’s comments carry a lot of value. Could this perhaps be a message to soccer clubs looking to fast-track youngsters to the senior team? It certainly looks that way.
