When Lionel Messi lifted the World Cup, his career came full circle. Regarding the moment, he said, “This was the only thing I was missing.” For the boy who came from Rosario, the mission had been achieved. Yet, despite being voted POTT at Qatar 2022 and playing at a high level, Messi surprised everybody by joining Inter Miami. The expectation was he might return to Camp Nou or perhaps fancy a reunion with Pep Guardiola. Now, the playmaker has finally opened up on moving to the MLS.

Recently, Lionel Messi revealed a jaw-dropping statement. As per ESPN, the soccer icon confirmed, “Inter Miami is going to be my final club.” Hence, his retirement could be decided on whether he accepts a new contract with the Herons. Yet, there is a big motivation for Messi to agree to an extension. The reason is the World Cup 2026 in the US.

Extending his tenure with Inter Miami would allow Lionel Messi to stay fit and in rhythm for the tournament. Moreover, as per the National Team, Messi hasn’t hinted at retiring ahead of the World Cup. In fact, Lionel Scaloni is already planning his squad around the veteran star. Having experienced immense joy in Qatar, perhaps Messi might be aiming to relive the experience once again.
