Inter Miami traveled to the Estadio BBVA for their second-leg CONCACAF Champions Cup clash against Monterrey. With the team down by a 1-goal deficit, it was never going to be easy for Lionel Messi and his men, and it seems like Monterrey fans are in no mood to let their opponents off the hook. The ongoing clash between the two sides saw Monterrey fans chant Cristiano Ronaldo’s name at the top of their lungs to push Lionel Messi off his game.

Well, their attempts have been working so far with the Argentine yet to produce anything in the contest. Meanwhile, Monterrey have found three more goals to their name taking their aggregate lead to 5-1. Miami fans will need a miracle to see their team keep their semifinal hopes alive, with the team all but knocked out of the competition.

Lionel Messi’s return goes in vain as Monterrey pipe Inter Miami

Inter Miami fans would have surely expected more of a fight from their team, considering how things went down tonight. The Herons were absolutely outclassed and outplayed throughout the entire 90 minutes by Monterrey, with the hosts bagging a 3-1 win. At no point throughout the contest, Inter Miami looked like a team that could turn the deficit against the Liga MX side with both Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez aptly neutralized by the pair of Stefan Medina and Victor Guzman.
