Lionel Messi remains the flavor of the month. The Argentinian superstar has been in the headlines for winning the 2023 FIFA ‘The Best’ Award. However, the face of Inter Miami was absent from the prestigious award gala held in London. While many have their theories, a USMNT legend insists that La Pulga was already confident of winning the award even though he ‘did not do anything‘.

On ESPN’s morning show, USMNT veteran Janusz Michallik made a huge claim regarding Lionel Messi’s absence. He argued that Haaland‘s treble and 50 goals don’t compare with Messi’s 9 goals and a Leagues Cup win in the US, which is no less than a ‘made-up tournament‘. He then said, “Maybe there’s a reason why all three of them didn’t show up. Messi, because he probably knew he was embarrassed that he was gonna get that, even though he’s not doing anything.”

Michallik insisted that Lionel Messi is currently in his off-season. Hence, he could have flown to London. Likewise, the USMNT legend also spoke about the other two, who also snubbed the invite. “Haaland, you tell me, how long is that train ride for him to get there? Mbappe maybe had some excuse. But this trophy that three of them didn’t take it seriously and as we know, some of these players know well ahead of time who wins this, so, bit of a farce,” he concluded. Amid all the chaos have we received any official reactions?
