The Premier League is undoubtedly experiencing one of its closest seasons in a long time. When the season kicked off, current champions Manchester City were favorites to further their run. But now, the race is closer than expected. Only a game result separates the top three: City, Arsenal, and Liverpool. And in such an intense situation, a Manchester player has revealed how he plans to tackle the situation.

Manchester City by no means takes any opponent for granted. Keeping this in mind, holding midfielder Mateo Kovacic has said that his team is hellbent on maintaining pressure on the two competitors. According to the Independent, after yesterday’s win against Luton Town, he stated, “It was important to keep the pressure on them, but we are focused on ourselves, to win our games, and then, in the end, we’ll see what happens,” knowing how vulnerable teams can be under rush.

The Croatian is aware of the situation in English soccer, where there is an additional burden on the teams to perform. Last year was a clear example when the Gunners succumbed to City’s acceleration, during the season because of its consistent performances. Mikel Arteta’s team dropped almost a 5-point lead at the top in the latter half of the season, finishing runner-up with a deficit of 5 points.

Therefore, Kovacic feels that this season could be a test of the team’s composure till the end. The Manchester City midfielder said, “It will be tough until the end, and let’s see who will have the strongest nerves until the end.” Pep Guardiola’s team already proved their mettle last year. However, Amid City’s injury woes in between, the club also has to keep up with the pressure of different tournaments.

Will Manchester keep its nerves despite current challenges?

Even though the Sky Blues had come out triumphant, winning the treble last season, this year’s task looks tougher. Coming to the Premier League, Liverpool is determined to end Jurgen Klopp’s tenure with a title victory. In addition, Arsenal has shown more resistance this season and is high on confidence after being undefeated in the league in 2024. But Kovacic is clear on his club’s mindset. He further said, “We approach every game focused, to be 100 percent and do our best. I think this game was as important as Wednesday. We need to keep the same focus and try to win,” after going back to #1 on the table yesterday.

Nevertheless, City with their formidable bench strength is fighting the challenges gracefully. Still, in contention for multiple tournaments like the Champions League and the FA Cup, can the European Champions do a four-peat in the Premier League? let us know in the comments.
