After enduring all the drama, sweat, and tears, Wrexham has finally clinched promotion to the Football League. The owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have led the Welsh side to glory. It has been a monumental few weeks in the club’s history. Wrexham is now looking for different ways to mark their celebrations. Meanwhile, a hefty bonus and a trip to Las Vegas have been mooted as rewards. However, before all this, the Welsh side needs to play their final league game and put a full stop to their National League journey.

Although they have already won the promotion, Reynolds’ side is eager to win the final game as well. Seemingly, new signing Ben Foster is far more desperate than his teammates to get the win.

The Red Dragons sealed off their advancement to EFL League 2 after securing a win against Boreham Wood. However, there’s still a game left to play. The game won’t be considered very important, given that they have already crossed the finish line. But according to promotion hero Foster, the game is as important as a typical final match.

Recently, in his podcast, Fozcast, the keeper revealed the intentions of the team for their final game. “So when we get into training on Wednesday, it’s professional mode again, and head on, get your head around the fact that we’ve got a proper game to play on Saturday. Let’s go win it, get three points, set an all-time record that has never been broken.”

Foster reckons that the club wants to set another record before they finally see off the National League. Wrexham is currently at the top of the table with 110 points. They have already broken the tally of 105 that was set by Crawley Town back in 2010/11.

Phil Parkinson’s side has a chance to glorify their record even more. They can end the season with 113 points, given that they win the final game. However, that record may come at the cost of Torquay United getting relegated.

While Wrexham are eyeing yet another benchmark record, their rivals are bracing for a huge upset. If Parkinson’s side manages to win their final game, then Torquay will get relegated to the National League North and South League. They will be joining Yeovil Town, Scunthorpe, and Maidstone United, as all of them will get relegated. A draw against the Red Dragons won’t be able to save them, as they are three points short.

The case gets more complicated for Torquay, as even if they win the game, they won’t achieve promotion as Maidenhead Town have a better goal difference and are just above them. Either way, it’s sad to see them go down on such a good occasion for Wrexham. Nevertheless, this won’t stop Reynolds’ side from winning the game and setting yet another record.
