MasterChef (Spanish) is a TV reality show in its 11th season. The current season premiered on the 10th of April, 2023. One of the contestants on the show is making rounds thanks to his connection with FC Barcelona. 

Eneko Fernandez is one of the contestants remaining in the show. Born in Zaragoza, the former soccer player started his youth career in Zaragoza. He played in many Spanish clubs at the youth and senior level, with FC Barcelona as one of those clubs.

The 38-year-old spent one season (2007-08) at the B-team of Barcelona under Pep Guardiola. After playing soccer, the former has opted for a career change and is doing great in the cooking reality show. He retired from soccer in 2015 and is one of the favorites to win the Spanish MasterChef. The news has drawn funny reactions from the fans.

Former FC Barcelona player leaves fans in stitches

One of the Twitter handles known to share news about FC Barcelona shared a tweet of Eneko Fernandez contesting the MasterChef show. As per Barca Universal, Fernandez is one of the favorites to win the TV show and has played under legendary manager Pep Guardiola.

It drew some sarcastic reactions from the fans. One of the fans wrote“Let him cook.” A few fans used the reference of the famous tiki-taka style of Barcelona in the response, claiming the former soccer player is cooking in the tiki-taka style. One of the fans funnily wrote that the player cooked so much on the pitch they took him to the reality show. 

Some fans updated the 38-year-old is in the finals of the show. One fan wants the club to sign him as the head chef, while others think it’s the influence of Guardiola that even B-team players are cooking.

Recent reports suggest that the Catalan giants have tabled a few combinations of offers to sign Lionel Messi on a free transfer. Messi will be a free agent in July this year. However, the financial troubles of the Blaugrana make the deal complicated.

They will have to comply with the La Liga salary cap and FFP regulations before making any move for the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner. Whether FC Barcelona lands the Argentine remains to be seen. It will be an intense fight to bring Messi, as several clubs are in contention. Only time will tell who succeeds.
