It was a moment of disbelief for everyone when Marcus Rashford was left out of the England squad for UEFA Euro 2024. After an underwhelming season at Manchester United, the Three Lions’ boss Gareth Southgate made the tough call to drop the axe on the forward. Yet, even in his absence, things haven’t gone very well for England, as they played a surprising draw against Denmark in Matchday 2 of the group stages. But what caught the eyes of many in the aftermath was a cryptic message from Rashford’s brother and agent, Dane, which ignited a wave of curiosity to learn more about the man in focus.

Who is Dane, the brother of Marcus Rashford?

Dane Rashford is the brother of Marcus Rashford, but he isn’t the only sibling of the Manchester United star. The 26-year-old forward also has a brother named Dwaine Maynard, two sisters, and one half-sister. Similar to Marcus, Dane is also associated with the beautiful game and works as a soccer agent for his star brother. He is the one who handles contract negotiations and takes care of everything a typical agent does for Marcus.

Aside from this, Dane works as a director at a sports management agency called DN May Sports Management, alongside his brother Dwaine Maynard. Even though Marcus is listed as a client of DN May Sports Management, his direct management is handled by Dwaine. Yet, keeping aside his profession, Dane has been involved in many controversies. In October 2023, Dane faced misdemeanor battery charges in Miami Beach, Florida, while on vacation with his partner Andrea Pocrnja.

The incident unfolded when hotel staff at Kimpton Angler’s saw Andrea’s nose injured after a night out. According to the police, Dane admitted to checking her phone and finding messages from another man. Andrea accused him of physical assault during an Uber ride back to the hotel at 3:30 am and when she tried to disable her phone in their room to get the Wi-Fi password.

In 2019, Dane, along with Trent-Alexander Arnold’s brother, Tyler, was attacked and robbed at gunpoint. The masked robbers fled with their $88,000 Range Rover and some jewelry, including a $25,000 Rolex. However, the offenders were arrested and are currently serving jail sentences. Nevertheless, for now, let’s see Dane’s cryptic message.

What was the cryptic message from Dane Rashford following England’s draw against Denmark in the Euro 2024?

England were held 1-1 by Group C rivals Denmark in the Matchday 2 at the Deutsche Bank Park on June 20, Thursday. While it was surely not a result that Gareth Southgate’s side wanted it to be, Dane Rashford made it quite obvious how the nation might be suffering just due to the absence of his brother Marcus. Following the match, Dane took to Instagram and wrote, “It’s hard to sit and watch when you honestly believe your man could make a difference!”

Remarkably, before Euro 2024, Marcus has represented the Three Lions at every major tournament since his debut back in 2016. However, the excuse of other players ‘had better seasons’ from Southgate saw the forward fail to make the cut. Though skipper Harry Kane gave a lead inside 18 minutes, Denmark equalized in the 34th minute. Additionally, the likes of Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden also looked sloppy, failing to find the back of the net.
